A fond farewell to Mrs Jane Turner

After 5 years Mrs Jane Turner is to leave Spofforth C of E Primary school at the end of the Summer Term.  Jane has been a fantastic Head Teacher and has greatly supported our many village events during her time at Spofforth.

Anyone who has been associated with her during her time in the village is invited to come to a farewell soiree in the Village Hall, drinks and nibbles will be available.

If you wuld like to make a donation towards a Spofforth Community leaving gift please put it in an envelope and leave it at Haribelle, Castle Street where there will be a card for anyone to sign.  Alternatively contact Robyn Farmer (01397 590339)

Village Gala gets new venue for 2010

thumb_gala_logo.jpgMonday 30th August 2010

This year we have chosen a new venue as we bring the fun and festivities right into the heart of the village to Spofforth Castle field.

There are the usual and traditional favourites that we all enjoy – the Gala royalty, live music, fun and games for the children, the 10k Gala Trail Race, stalls, entertainment and of course refreshments throughout the day at the Village Hall.

We are confident as always that Spofforth Gala will have something for everyone, so please put the date in your diary – August Bank Holiday Monday!

How can you help?  We need imagination and creation, we want people with bright ideas to make this a day with a difference – can you help with catering, at the Gala itself or marshalling during the race? Whatever, we would love to hear from you to help create an even more fun-filled Gala Day in 2010.

Our Playground has finally arrived

After many years of fundraising and terrific public support, the sun shone as the environmental playscheme was opened on Saturday 1st May by Jane Turner (Head of Spofforth Primary School) assisted by Daisy Roberts.

The Parish Council would like to thank Harrogate Borough Council for their unwaving support and to the army of volunteers who have worked so hard to bring this project to fruition.

We would also like to thank all of you who have supported the project with sponsorship of chairs, tables, fruit trees and bird boxes without whose help this would never have been possible.

Well done Spofforth, a real demonstration of drive, determination and community spirit!!
