thumb_spofforth_beer_festival.jpgSPOFFORTH’S first-ever beer festival has been hailed a resounding success - exceeding all expectations.

Villagers were treated to a range of beers, ciders and wines - with pie ‘n’ peas and sandwiches available for those who got peckish. The crowds were also treated to a performance from the local band 'Crimple Stompers', who formed especially for the festival.

Organiser Robyn Farmer said: “It was a fantastic day, everything we could have hoped for. More so, infact,” “Everybody seemed to really enjoy themselves. There was a great atmosphere and the band went down a storm.”

The beer festival raised around £2000 to support Village Society events and a new kitchen area in the Church.

Open Gardens - the weather was more than kind and the open gardens and strawberry tea set in the immaculate grounds of the Old Vicarage Garden was once again well attended and raised £1,200 which is to be divided this year between Spofforth in Bloom and the School.  Grateful thanks to Mark and Rachel Woodward for their hospitality in hosting this popular event, to those who opened their lovely gardens and to all the helpers on the day and those who worked behind the scenes to make this event such a success.

Summer Judging- don't forget we need to pull out all the stops to prepare for the Yorkshire In Bloom Judging on Wednesday 6th July.  We need our village to look a picture so that we can remain hopeful of a good award when the results are announced in September. Litter pick on Tuesday evening - equipment provided.  Please meet at the Village Hall
