Leeds Road Surgery Patient Participation Group

E-mail Print PDF

The Patient Participation Group meets every three months and provides an opportunity for two way communication between the NHS Leeds Road GP Surgery and their patients in Spofforth and surrounding areas.  Amanda Addyman is our representative.  The next meeting will be held on 1st March.  For further information or to raise an issue please contact Amanda on 01937 590250

The PPG met in December when various issues were discussed including the proposed pharmacy at the Leeds Road site.  This will not affect the dispensing procedure for Spofforth as we will retain our rural status.

A Spofforth resident had raised the question of additional services in the surgery at the village hall.  Additional NHS funding would be required but this is unlikely to be available unless the demand for services increases (ie the number of patients using the services increases).  However, there is no reason why other service providers (such as chiropodists, chiropractors, physiotherapists, reflexologists etc) could not use the village surgery room.  If anyone is interested in renting the room on a sessional basis, then they should contact the Parish Clerk in the first instance  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. A number of residents had asked if it was possible to have a female GP at the village surgery but at the moment this is not possible due to the current risk assessment and limited funding.  Lone working by a GP is considered a risk - there have been incidents at the main surgery where staff have felt threatened and have required the back up of other members of staff.  Only those GPS currently attending Spofforth surgery have agreed to lone working arrangements.  Funding is not available to provide more than one member of staff at Spofforth surgeries.
