Annual Crime Figures

E-mail Print PDF

Over the past year, Spofforth has had 32 crimes reported with 8 detections. Elsewhere in the District, Follifoot (27 crimes with 9 detections), Little Ribston (3 crimes with no detections), North Deighton (4 crimes with 1 detection) ,Kirk Deighton ( 20 crimes with 2 detections and MOTO Services (37 crimes with 3 detections),  Whilst the number of detections appears poor, rural crime is notoriously difficult to detect as so much occurs overnight with nothing being seen.

The most common offences are burglaries involving shed, garages and other outbuildings, so if you are considering updating your security, they would be a good place to start.  The year also saw a number of thefts of 'scrap metal' something which PC Ayres feels is likely to continue into 2012 as the price remains high and it generates quick cash.  If you have any metal lying around it is probably worth weighing it in yourself!

It is alo worth noting that the new non-emergency number for contacting the Police is 101 then follow the instructions.  999 remains the number of emergency calls.  PC Ayres can be contacted via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
